Halloween 2018, I wanted my two-year-old son to be a caddie. I don't know where I got the idea. Probably TV. Probably watching some tournament with him on a Sunday afternoon and deciding that the guy carrying the big bag looked cooler than the guy swinging the club. Honestly, fair.
So I went looking for a white kids' coverall, the kind caddies actually wear, and found absolutely nothing. Not on Amazon. Not at Party City. Nowhere. What existed was either a generic white onesie or a golf-themed thing that looked nothing like what we were going for.
I ordered 100 white long-sleeve coveralls from a manufacturer, kept one for my son, and put the other 99 on Etsy. Sold out in roughly four months.
That is, genuinely, why Caddie Uniform exists.
Why Golf Halloween Costumes Work So Well for Families
Most family golf Halloween costumes have a problem. They look great in the product photo, arrive in a thin plastic bag, and fall apart by 7 PM on October 31st. Nobody's happy. The kids are uncomfortable, the parents are embarrassed, and the photos look exactly as cheap as the costume was.
Golf Halloween costumes for the whole family sidestep all of that, and the caddie uniform specifically works for one reason: it's a real uniform, not a themed costume.
The white long-sleeve coverall your kids wear on Halloween is the same construction worn on actual golf courses. When you add a name patch on the back and a number patch on the front, it doesn't look like dress-up. It looks deliberate.
And there's something about a golf-themed Halloween costume that reads differently at the door. It's not overdone; it's a little unexpected. And when five people show up together, all in matching white coveralls with their names on the back, it photographs in a way that almost no other family costume does.
What the Caddie Uniform Actually Is
Let's be specific, because this matters.
The Kids Custom Caddie Uniform:
- White, long-sleeve one-piece coverall (not a bib, not an apron, a full jumpsuit)
- Made from a soft polycotton blend that breathes and actually feels good against skin
- Comes with 3 removable Velcro patches: name patch on the back, number patch and logo patch on the front
- Unisex design, true to size
- Sizes run from 0-3 months all the way through 12 years old
- Production time is 1-2 days from order completion, ships from Arkansas
The Adult Custom Caddie Uniform:
- Same long-sleeve white coverall construction as the kids version
- Same 3-patch Velcro system: name, number, logo
- Sizes run from 32 through 56, including long sizes for taller builds
- About half of everything we sell now is adult uniforms, which still surprises me a little
The polycotton fabric matters more than people expect. It's soft enough that a toddler won't fight you getting it on, and structured enough that it holds its shape in photos. Nothing worse than a floppy costume at 8 PM.
How the Velcro Patches Work
This is the part that makes a golf caddie costume genuinely reusable, not just a one-night thing.
Each uniform comes with three Velcro-backed patches:
|
Patch |
Location |
What Goes On It |
|
Name patch |
Back of coverall |
Your kid's name, your name, a nickname |
|
Number patch |
Front of coverall |
Jersey number, birth year, lucky number, anything |
|
Logo patch |
Front of coverall |
American flag, golf flag, Happy Birthday, golf cart, golf ball, crossed clubs, Bushwood Country Club, Mama/Dada, or upload your own |
The patches pull off and reattach cleanly. Swap the "Halloween" logo for a "Happy Birthday" logo in November, and the same uniform works for a birthday party. Change the logo again for a Father's Day golf outing, and it works there too. We have customers who've gotten two years of use out of a single uniform just by rotating patches.
The Hat That Ties the Whole Look Together
A caddie without a hat is just someone in a white jumpsuit. The hat is the detail that makes the costume read immediately.
Our Caddie Green Hat is the best seller on the site for a reason. Deep green color, white "CADDIE" embroidery in a 3D chain stitch, solid structured back, snapback closure. Youth size fits kids from roughly 2 years old through 12. Adult size fits teens, women, and men. Both at $34.99, with a sale price of $29.99 when it runs.
It's the piece that, when someone sees your kid from across the street, makes them immediately understand what's happening. The white coverall plus the green hat plus the name on the back, that's a costume.
Beyond Halloween: Where This Uniform Actually Goes
The families who get the most out of these aren't buying them just for October 31st.
Here's where the same uniform shows up after Halloween:
- Birthday parties. Switch the logo patch to "Happy Birthday," done.
- Father-son or family golf outings. The uniform is good enough to wear on an actual golf course.
- School events and spirit days. A few families have used them for golf-themed school days.
- Family portraits. We've seen some genuinely great portraits come out of the white uniform against a green course backdrop.
We've outfitted birthday parties for some well-known families, including one for an NBA player's daughter where the kids spent the day dressed as caddies and then met some tour players. The uniform travels well.
Ordering Before Halloween: What You Need to Know
Production takes 1-2 days from when your order is complete (meaning all patch info submitted). We ship from Arkansas, so domestic delivery is quick, but don't wait until October 28th if you want any breathing room.
A few things to think through before you order:
- Sizing: True to size. If your kid is between sizes, go up.
- Patches: Have names and numbers ready when you order. The logo can be chosen from the preset options, or you can upload your own image.
- Hats: Order at the same time as the uniforms so they arrive together.
Browse the caddie uniforms collection and get the family set locked in before the October rush. Check our Halloween Gallery to get more ideas. We've sold out before, and it's not a fun email to send.
