Some businesses start with a business plan. Ours started with a Halloween costume and a kid who wanted to look exactly like the caddie he'd seen on TV.
I'm not exaggerating when I say the whole thing was an accident – a happy, chaotic, completely unplanned accident that somehow turned into a real brand that golfers across the country now know by name. If you've ever wondered how Caddie Uniform came to be, this is that story.
The Idea That Started It All
It was 2018, and I was sitting on the couch with my 2-year-old son when I asked him if he wanted to dress up as a golf caddie. He wasn't exactly thrilled, but I couldn't stop thinking about it. I jumped online, searching through eBay, Amazon, and Etsy for anything that resembled a white kids' caddie coverall and found absolutely nothing.
After a few weeks of digging and calling around, I realized: if I wanted a caddie uniform for my son, I'd have to make it myself. I reached out to seamstresses and got turned down over and over. Most said the complexity wasn't worth their time. So I contacted a clothing manufacturer. They told me the minimum order was 100 uniforms. I only needed one. But I figured – let's do it.
White jumpsuit. Custom name patch. Number on the back – the whole setup. My kid walked out looking like he'd just stepped off the 18th fairway at a Tour event, and people lost their minds over it.
From One Costume to 100 Orders
My wife had the idea to market the costumes for Halloween: Mom and Dad could be the golfers, and the kids would be the caddies. I posted photos of my son on Etsy, hoping someone out there was also desperate for a kid-sized caddie uniform.
Sure enough, the orders started rolling in. Within 4 months, we had sold all 99 kids’ golf caddy costumes, and I even had to sell the one I made for my own son while we waited for the next batch to arrive!
I was packing boxes at my kitchen table, running to the post office more than I'd like to admit, and slowly realizing this might actually be something. The validation was immediate and a little overwhelming. But it told me everything I needed to know.
How Word-of-Mouth Built the Brand
There was no marketing budget or influencer strategy. Just one dad packing boxes at a kitchen table, hoping someone else out there got it.
But the photos started traveling on their own. Parents posted their kids in full caddie gear at junior tournaments. Dads got their Saturday foursomes to order matching sets. Fantasy football leagues turned losing into a costume party.
That organic momentum – post after post, share after share – is what turned 99 custom caddie uniforms into a waitlist we were genuinely scrambling to fulfill with no ad spend and just people who loved the game and loved the look.
The Adult Size Pivot
About a year in, something shifted in the data I was seeing. Grown adults kept asking if we made their size. Fantasy football leagues, bachelor parties, and actual golfers who wanted to caddie for their buddies in uniform. Real demand, not just novelty requests.
We launched adult sizing, and within six months, adult orders accounted for nearly 50% of total sales. That surprised me, honestly. I thought kids would always be the core of what we do. But it turns out golfers of all ages want to wear the title, and the adult caddie uniform found its own audience pretty quickly.
Where You'll See the Caddie Uniform Now
Over six years in, Caddie Uniform has shown up in places I genuinely could not have pictured back at that kitchen table in 2018.
Golf Magazine featured us. We've been mentioned on the Fueled By Why Podcast alongside conversations about golf culture and entrepreneurship. And we've had customers show up in our uniforms at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, one of the loudest, most chaotic, most purely fun stops on the PGA Tour calendar.
That last one felt real. A tournament known for its rowdy energy and genuine passion for the game, and our gear was part of it.

PGA Tour to Birthday Parties
The use cases have expanded in ways I didn't plan for but absolutely love. We've had customers wear our gear to watch Scottie Scheffler defend his world ranking, caddie for Phil Mickelson at charity events, and recreate iconic Tiger Woods moments with their kids dressed in full caddie gear on the bag.
And then there's the birthday party circuit. Six-year-olds who want a golf-themed party. Eight-year-olds who want to caddie for their grandfather. Junior golfers who take the game seriously want gear that matches.
All of it fits. That's the part that still surprises me in the best way.
What's in the Bag Now?
We've grown the product line well beyond that first white jumpsuit. Here's what we carry today.
Product Category Breakdown
For the junior golfers: Our kids' caddie uniform line covers sizes from baby through youth, with the same custom patch system we've always used. Name patch, number patch, logo graphic. Eight designs, removable Velcro.
For the adults: The adult caddie uniform is the same structure, built for grown-up sizing and the specific chaos of a fantasy football punishment round or a real caddie day with your Saturday foursome.
Beyond the jumpsuit: We now carry caddie bibs for a more traditional look, caddie hats for the finishing touch, putter covers for the golfer on your list who has everything, and dog caddie uniforms because, yes, people absolutely wanted that and we are not going to pretend we weren't excited to build it.
Every product carries the same philosophy: it should look like it belongs on a real golf course, not like something you grabbed off a clearance rack at a party supply store.
Start Your Own Caddie Story
If you've made it this far, you probably already have someone in mind. A kid who idolizes the tour players they watch on Sunday afternoons. A dad who deserves something more thoughtful than a generic gift card. A league of fantasy football losers who need a consequence that actually sticks.
Whatever the occasion, we built this brand for exactly that moment.
We've grown so much since that couch conversation in 2018. From one dad trying to make a Halloween costume to a full-blown golf apparel brand. We're beyond grateful for every customer who believed in what we're building. This all started with one question to a toddler. And today, it's a growing community of parents, golfers, kids, and dogs – all repping caddie life.
